AG45/AG46 Unpowered Asset Gateway (AG) Troubleshooting

If you experience unexpected unpowered Asset Gateway (AG) behavior for your AG45/AG46 or if your asset detail (Overview ( )> Assets) reports an error after you activate and install your AG45/AG46, follow the troubleshooting steps for the observed behavior.

If you continue to experience issues after performing the troubleshooting steps below, reboot the device by pressing and holding the pin for 15 seconds. Reattempt the troubleshooting sequence. If the LED is unresponsive, contact Support.

Reporting as Gateway in hibernation (AG46 only)

Contact Support for assistance.

Reporting as Low gateway battery

1. For the AG46, replace the AG battery. For the AG45, contact Support.

2. Ensure the Wake on Motion and Check-in Schedule settings are appropriate for the device.

   To improve battery life, Samsara recommends a less frequent check-in frequency.

Reporting as: Requires Investigation or Gateway Offline

1. Ensure that the device is outside and avoid obstructions such as underground structures, heavily insulated buildings, bridges, and trees.

2. Reboot the device by pressing and holding the pin for 5-15 seconds; release the pin after the LED blinks 2 times, once at 1 second and again at approximately 5 seconds.

   

3. Perform the action for the LED observed. If there is no initial LED response, contact Support.

AG45/46 LED status and corrective action

Solid orange LED

Status: Unsuccessful connection: Cellular connection fail, GPS fail

Action

Relocate the device to an area with a clear view of the sky and within range of an AT&T cell tower.

Fast blinking orange LED

Status: Partial connection: Cellular connection OK, GPS fail

Action

Relocate the device to an area with a clear view of the sky.

Slow blinking orange LED

Status: Partial connection: Cellular connection fail, GPS OK

Action

Relocate device to within range of an AT&T cell tower.

Blinking green LED

Status: Successful connection, device not active in the Samsara dashboard

Action

Activate the device in the Samsara dashboard.

Solid green LED

Status: Successful connection

Action

Verify successful connection in your Samsara dashboard (up to 5 minutes).

Check-in issues

Use this workflow for the following check-in issues:

• Check-ins observed for longer than scheduled

• No check-ins observed

• Solid green LED after troubleshooting, no check-ins

The light only turns green during activation and when the button is used for troubleshooting.
