Coaching Timeliness Report

The Coaching Timeliness Report enables you to quickly identify which coaches are performing coaching activities on time and to view a breakdown of past coaching behavior. You can run event reports of a maximum duration up to one year. To monitor trends in coaching timeliness, you can also Schedule a Report for Samsara to send in email.

From the Safety Dashboard ( ), you can view coaching behaviors at a glance including on-time, past due, and average time for coaching behaviors. Your Safety Actions widget at the top of the dashboard highlights past due coaching behaviors and the Coaching Timeliness widget at the bottom of the page provides insight into on-time and average coaching responses:

Coaching Timeliness Summary

With each coaching session, events are grouped together into behaviors and drivers are coached on behaviors instead of individual events. This report summarizes coaching performance and whether driver behaviors are coached on time or not. To view the number of unassigned segments, navigate to the unassigned sessions banner under the summary graph. Select View Unassigned Sessions to view the drivers without an assigned coach.

To ensure coaching sessions are accurately represented in the Coaching Timeliness Report, each session must have an assigned coach. Reporting attribution is based on the Assigned Coach field—not on who updates the session status. As a result, even if someone marks an event as Coached, that session will not be credited in reporting unless a coach was assigned at the time of the update.

Note

You can see data for all coaches that you have permissions to view. If a coach coaches any drivers for which you do not have permissions to view, the report groups those drivers in a generic category for Restricted Users.

To view coaching performance, select the Coaching Performance tab from the top of the Safety Dashboard. The Coaching Timeliness Summary comprises an overall summary graph and a breakdown of coaching timeliness by coach. Use the date selector to narrow the scope of the results. The graph includes all drivers for the selected behaviors that have coached at least one driver within the selected time range

You can use the Behavior Type menu above the summary to narrow the scope of the behaviors that the graph displays. Behaviors include events that were triggered during the selected time range. The table below summarizes the graph data:

Data	Description
Behaviors Coached On-Time	Percentage of coached events in a behavior category that are complete, calculated from the oldest event in that behavior category
Total Coachable Behaviors	Sum of all behaviors assigned to a driver with a status that is past due, coached, or needs coaching.
Past Due	Sum of behaviors that are past due for coaching. Select this number to view all sessions that contain a past due behavior. The Coaching Dashboard could display fewer sessions than there are late behaviors because a session can have more than one late behavior See Customizable Coaching Settings to modify the timeframe during which a coaching session should be completed by your coaches.
Average Time to Coach	Average duration between when an event is marked as Needs Coaching and when it is marked as Coached for all completed sessions. If an event is moved directly from Needs Review to Coached in the Safety Inbox, it is counted as having 0 time to coach.

Coaching Timeliness Report by Coach

To further drill down into the Coaching Timeliness Report, you can select the name of a specific coach in the table beneath the summary. After you select a coach, the summary updates to reflect data only for the selected coach.

In addition, the table beneath the summary graph displays a summary of coaching sessions assigned to the coach by driver.

Field	Description
Behavior	One or more types of behaviors for which the driver was coached.
Driver	Name of the driver that was coached.
Timeliness	Coaching status associated with the coaching session (Needs Coaching, Coached Late, Coached, Past Due).
Coaching Completed	Date coaching session was completed or due. See Customizable Coaching Settings to modify the timeframe during which a coaching session should be completed by your coaches.
Assigned Coach	Coach assigned to the driver or No Coach Assigned.
