Unpowered Asset Gateway (AG) Device Settings – Z3n Tests (a31548 a722e2/1754609193)

When you install an unpowered Asset Gateway on an asset, you can view and update the associated asset information from your Samsara dashboard. Available AG settings are dependent on the accessory options installed and the features enabled for your fleet.

Definitions for Unpowered AG Settings

The following tables summarize the settings you can view and edit for your unpowered AG and its associated asset. To edit these settings, see Edit Settings for an Individual AG.

Asset Settings

Setting

Description

Name

The name of the associated vehicle or asset.

When you first add a device, the Samsara dashboard identifies it by serial number. For ease of management and identification, use descriptive names for your gateways.

Gateway

Serial number associated with the gateway. This field is not editable.

Tags & Attributes

Setting	Description
Tags	Tags associated with the vehicle.
Attributes	The name and values of attributes associated with the vehicle.

Asset Identification

Setting	Description
License Plate	License plate of the paired vehicle.
VIN	Vehicle identification number (VIN) associated with the paired vehicle. If the value is detected and located in the US public database, the asset make, model, and year will display on the asset details.
Asset Serial Number	Internal identifier of the asset the device is attached to, used for tracking and traceability.

Other Settings

Setting	Description
Unpowered Asset Gateway Check-in Frequency	By default, the unpowered AG checks in every 12 hours. To change the frequency for this asset, select a frequency in Device-specific settings (Every 30 minutes, Every 1 hour, Every 2 hours, Every 6 hours, Every 12 hours, Every 24 hours). To change your Organization-wide settings for check-in frequency, see Wake on Motion and Check-in Schedule.
Driver App Trailer Selection	Enable to allow drivers to choose this trailer as an option to select in the Samsara Driver App.
Note	Notes you want to capture about the asset or gateway.

Edit Settings for an Individual AG

To view or edit the settings for an individual gateway:

Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.
From within Devices, select Devices > Gateways.
Locate the gateway from the list. To narrow the scope of the results, Search for the gateway or filter the options by Tags or Attributes.
On the device row, click the more actions ( ••• ) menu > Settings.
Edit the device settings and Save to confirm the changes.

Delete a Device

To remove excess assets in your asset list that are no longer collecting data, you can delete the device from the Samsara dashboard. Deleting a device permanently removes all historical data in reports from the associated asset.
